Below is a list of events and programs for youth and children, Bible studies for adults, and other resources available this summer at Second!

frozen Casseroles from our kitchen

Our kitchen staff is offering a variety of frozen entrees as well as breads and desserts for purchase and pick-up this summer! Frozen meals are perfect to keep on hand for busy weeks and make great gifts for friends and neighbors! Come by anytime on Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-2:00pm to pick one up. Each casserole feeds 4-6 people.

For Kids and Families 

Family Fun Days: Family Water Day is cancelled due to the heat advisory this week.  

Toddler Story Time (Tuesdays at 10:00am): Our Growing Place Library is excited to have children up to 5 years old come to Toddler Story Time this summer on June 11, 18, 25 and July 16, 23 in Room B101! No registration necessary.

Middle Grade Book Club: Middle grade students are invited to the Library for a fun summer book club on June 26 and July 31 from 2:00-3:00pmThey will be reading The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place: The Mysterious Howling (Book One) by Maryrose Wood. 


For Youth

True North Bible Study (9th-12th Grade): Wednesday nights from 7:30-9:00pm in the youth lounge! This is a weekly Bible study where students can connect with one another and the youth staff. They will meet June 5, 12, 18, 26 & July 10, 24.

103 Degrees (6th-8th Grade): Tuesday nights from 6:00-7:30pm at an offsite location! Students will swim, spend time hanging out together, and study God's Word. These will meet June 4, 11, 25 & July 2, 9, 23. Contact Bryant Arriaza for location details.


For College & Young Adult

901 Summer Fellowship:Tuesdays at 7:00pm, June 4-July 16: College-aged students are invited to 901 Summer Fellowship on Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm! Each week, there will be dinner, an extended Bible study, and games/hang time! Anyone college-aged (graduated senior–senior in college) is welcome to join as they study the "I am" statements of Christ. These will take place at host homes each week. Contact Nik Weber at (618) 979-1380 if you would like to join!

Crossroads Bible Studies: Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm, June 12-July 24 (Note: Week 2 is a Monday, and it excludes July 3) Our Crossroads Young Adult community will host a Men's Bible Study and a Women's Bible Study weekly in the book of Philippians. Both groups will meet on campus. Contact Philip James or Jess Uke for location details. Following the Bible studies, there will be social time for basketball, desserts, etc. 


For Women

Sister Sing: June 11 & July 9 at 6:30pm in the Chapel. Let us know you're coming here.  

Sister Summer Gatherings: Once monthly in June, July, and August. Register here by May 20.

Summer Reading Recommendations

Staff Recommendations:  We asked our staff to give some recommendations for summer reading, and we got everything from Christian living and biographies to spiritual growth resources and parenting resources. Check out the list here!

Page Turners Podcast: Also, our annual Page Turners podcast was released this summer! Listen in for a fun conversation about favorite books from this past year—from middle grade to fiction to spiritual growth, and everything in between. Check out the podcast here!

Camp Narnia (May 28-31 from 9:00-11:30am in Room C310): Children ages 7 and up are invited to Camp Narnia, an annual camp hosted by The Growing Place Library where we read aloud and discuss C.S. Lewis' classic tales. This year, we'll read Voyage of the Dawn Treader. There is no charge to attend, and books will be provided. Camp Narnia 2024 is full! Please email library@2pc.org to be added to the waitlist.

Vacation Bible School (June 3-6 from 9:00-11:45am): We are excited to host rising Pre-K (3 by 1/1/24) through rising 6th grade children on our campus for an epic Jungle Journey from Genesis to Revelation! Pre-registration is now closed, but click here to learn more about how to volunteer or information about walk-up registration on June 3.

Rejoice Music Arts Camp: Designed for rising 3rd to 9th grade students and hosted by the Second Conservatory of Music, this camp will offer instrumental, vocal, visual art, and dance instruction to participants. The camp will be from 10:00am-3:00pm each day—July 8-12 at Second Presbyterian Church or July 15-19 at RedZone Ministries. The cost to attend is $185 (includes camp activities, daily lunch, and a t-shirt). Registration is full for the July 8-12 session. Jubilation Jazz Concert & Lunch: The Senior Adult Ministry at Second invites everyone to join them for a concert and lunch on July 3 at 11:00am in the Fellowship Hall! This event will feature Jubilation Jazz, a 20-piece big band that specializes in patriotic standards and classic mid-twentieth-century tunes. The concert begins at 11:00am and lunch follows (ending at 2:00pm). Cost is $10 for both the concert and lunch.
